You may have noticed some posts from our friends at the Strategist on the Cut. They’ll be dropping in every now and again, sharing their expertise on the basics you don’t have time to research and the weird and wonderful things you don’t yet know you need.
Given the suddenly quite cold temperatures in much of the country this week, our sales coverage has been all about bundling up. Yesterday, fashion writer Ambar Pardilla combed through & Other Stories’ better-than-Black Friday sweater sale to pick her favorites, and junior writer Bella Druckman found quite a few Lands’ End layerables on sale at Target. I also noticed that Filson’s sale-on-sale has some nice discounted jackets, and Rothy’s Cozy Fall Sale has lots of slippers, clogs, and boots for 20 percent off. I’ve pulled a few favorites from each below. You can still get several of this week’s best deals, too, including a ten-pack of kids’ long-sleeved tees for $30, $20 Everlane cashmere beanies, and a half-off Gap puffer jacket.
Nordstrom’s Fall Sale is back through October 28. It’s not that much different from the brand’s regular sale section; there are just a lot more new markdowns for up to 50 percent off. Below, I found some nice Christmas-tree trimmings, a best-in-class hair towel, and Alo Yoga shorts. But for even more, junior writer Brenley Goertzen rounded up all the Strategist-approved items on sale at Nordstrom right now. On the holidays front, self-proclaimed Halloween-head Pardilla found some additional Halloween décor on sale this week.

Filson Journeyman Backpack
For a bigger bag, there’s Filson’s Journeyman backpack, beloved by choreographer Justin Peck and Substack video and podcast lead Austin Tedesco. With its slightly weathered look, it offers “the rare good middle ground” and has plenty of pockets for storing your computer and the rest of your necessities, says Tedesco.

The only makeup deal that caught my eye this week is this cream blush from Half Magic. It comes in five shades: hot pink, rosy brown, plum, pearlescent beige, and peach (pictured here).
