Grab your cowboy hats and cue up “Texas Hold ’Em,” because the NFL is getting Beyoncé-ified this winter. On Sunday, Netflix announced that the 32-time Grammy winner would take the field as a halftime performer during one of the league’s two Christmas Day games. The Beyoncé concert will take place at Houston’s NRG Stadium as the Texans host the Baltimore Ravens. Produced by the singer’s Parkwood Entertainment, the Houston native will reportedly perform songs from Cowboy Carter — the album that dominated this year’s Grammy nominations — for the first time since the project’s March release. Netflix may have cursed viewers with a glitchy Jake Paul–versus–Mike Tyson fight over the weekend, but I will accept the news of a live Beyoncé halftime show as a suitable apology.
Netflix and the NFL have also teased that Beyoncé is expected to bring a special guest or two — likely choosing from those featured on Cowboy Carter. If that turns out to be good intel, we could be getting cameos from Dolly Parton, Miley Cyrus, Willie Nelson, Shaboozey, Linda Martell, or Post Malone. After all, we already know Beyoncé loves a surprise guest. Remember when she headlined the Super Bowl in 2016 and brought out Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams for a Destiny’s Child reunion? It’ll be hard to top that, but if anyone can do it, it’s probably Beyoncé. Maybe if we’re lucky, we’ll get a Blue Ivy sighting, too.
