Even self-described “sports fanatic” and “really good gambler” Omar J. Dorsey was a little tempted by that Mike Tyson and Jake Paul fight on Netflix. “That would have been an idiotic thing to bet on, but my heart and my inner child thinks Mike Tyson can beat anybody up, even somebody 30 years younger than him,” the Bookie star said at Vulture Fest. “That would have been the dumbest bet.” Unsurprisingly, the star of Chuck Lorre and Nick Bakay’s comedy about sports gambling has some personal experience placing bets. As it turns out, sometimes you need to know when to not put your money where your mouth is. Dorsey’s real-life bookie — whom he said he called when he decided to read for his role in the Max show — helped him avoid losing money as recently as this week. “I wanna thank my bookie for not letting me bet on that Mike Tyson fight the other night,” Dorsey said. “I owe him a dinner because I tried to put a thousand on it, and he ignored me. At the end of the night, he said, I refuse to take that bet. So let’s shout out to my man, BK Joe.”
