Being “your favorite hippo’s favorite hippo” is a tough job, especially when you’re only two months old. Bowen Yang channeled his inner wet diva as Moo Deng, the pygmy baby hippo from Thailand, and she has some boundaries she’d like to set with fans. After reports came out about people throwing things at Deng while she was on stage (in her enclosure) to get her attention, Deng put out a warning to the public on Weekend Update, setting boundaries with her fans, a la Chappell Roan. “For the past ten weeks, I’ve been going nonstop, running around, eating lettuce, trying to bite the water from the hose,” Deng tearfully shared before eventually chugging water from a hose. “Reminder, women owe you nothing.” She reminds Colin Jost that she has a career and sponsorships like Maybelline lined up, but she will only “stand by” products she believes in, like more hose water. Deng concludes her time by showing support for Roan and tells fans to “stop throwing shellfish at her” since it’s only a matter of time before it happens.
