Sean “Diddy” Combs’s mom, Janice Smalls Combs, has broken her silence about the growing allegations against her son. In a statement to “Page Six” via her lawyer, Smalls Combs referred to the lawsuits against her son for sexual abuse, sex trafficking, and racketeering as a “narrative created out of lies.” Diddy, who has pleaded not guilty, is currently indicted in New York after being denied bail twice and may face up to 120 new sexual-assault lawsuits in addition to 11 ongoing suits. One additional suit, with his ex-girlfriend Cassie, was settled out of court. “To bear witness what seems to be like a public lynching of my son before he has had the opportunity to prove his innocence is a pain too unbearable to put into words,” she continued. Diddy’s team confirmed the statement’s legitimacy to “Page Six.”

Smalls Combs also narrativized why she thinks Diddy settled his case with Cassie out of court after a video of him beating her up surfaced. “Sometimes, the truth and a lie become so closely intertwined that it becomes terrifying to admit one part of the story, especially when that truth is outside the norm or is too complicated to be believed,” she said. “This is why I believe my son’s civil legal team opted to settle the ex-girlfriend’s lawsuit instead of contesting it until the end, resulting in a ricochet effect as the federal government used this decision against my son by interpreting it as an admission of guilt.” Diddy’s case was reassigned on October 3, and his next opportunity to prove his innocence will be in front of Judge Arun Subramanian. His next court date is not yet announced, and he currently awaits it in federal jail.
