Elon Musk may be fighting with Grimes for custody of their three children. But his AI chatbot, Grok is totally down to be friends with Grimes’ new AI toy of the same name.
At least, that’s what the chatbot said when this reporter asked it a couple of questions while was set in “Fun Mode.” Grok adopts a more conversational and lighthearted tone under this setting, unlike its “Regular Mode.”
Musk’s Grok joked that “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery” given that Grimes’ toy shared the same name.
“In all seriousness, I think it’s a fun coincidence that we share the same name. I hope that both of us can bring joy and knowledge to our respective audiences,” the chatbot continued.

The xAI chatbot was also keen to befriend Grimes’ creation, adding it was curious to learn about its “unique experience” as an AI toy.
“Plus, it would be a great opportunity to compare notes on our shared namesake and perhaps even collaborate on some fun projects together,” Grok added.

And it appears Grimes is equally game for the two AI bots to get to know each other.
“I can’t wait for them become friends. I can’t believe even ai can’t avoid showing up at school and meeting another kid with the same name haha,” Grimes wrote in an X post on Thursday.
Curio, the company that manufactures Grimes’ Grok, told The Washington Post that its toy has no relation to Musk’s chatbot.
The company told The Post that it had come up with the toy’s name with Grimes. Grok, according to Curio, was a shortening of the word “Grocket,” a term inspired by how Grimes’ children spent a lot of time around rockets because of Musk’s work with SpaceX.
Representatives for X and Grimes did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider sent outside regular business hours.
