On Sunday, Frances Bean Cobain, daughter of Courtney Love and Kurt Cobain, and Riley Hawk, son of Tony Hawk, announced the birth of their son, Ronin. This is a powerful blending of DNA. It’s possible that having two all-time-great rock stars and the world’s most famous skateboarder in your family tree makes Ronin the coolest baby ever.
The comments on Cobain’s Instagram announcement were a who’s who of ’90s stars. Of course Tony Hawk was there, writing “My favorite grandson!” (This is his first grandchild.) R.E.M. front man Michael Stipe, who is Cobain’s godfather and officiated the couple’s wedding last year, wrote “With all the love and energy in the whole world.” Christina Ricci and Kim Gordon also shared their support.
Also showing love to the couple was a whole host of fellow celebrity offspring, including Zelda Williams (Robin Williams’s daughter), Tallulah Willis (Bruce Willis and Demi Moore’s daughter), Nick Simmons (Gene Simmons’s son), and Harper Grohl (Dave Grohl’s daughter).
Speaking of the Grohls, there’s a petite Nirvana baby boom happening right now. Earlier this month, Dave Grohl announced that he had fathered a baby outside of his marriage. Now, Kurt’s daughter has given birth to her first child. Has anyone checked to see if there are any new babies in Krist Novoselic’s life?
