Los Angeles is fully suit-ing up. NBC ordered a full season of Suits: LA on July 19, 2024. First, the cast of the original Suits hosted the Golden Globes red carpet, and then it took over the Nielsen Top Ten list, coming out as the most streamed show of last year. Now, they’re coming for the rest of Hollywood. Here’s everything we know about the upcoming series, from when it premieres to who’s coming back for seconds.
What’s the new series about?
As Suits: LA was created by OG Suits mastermind and creator Aaron Korsh, it should have a similar vibe to the first series. Per NBC, the legal drama description reads: “Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York, has reinvented himself representing the most powerful clients in Los Angeles. His firm is at a crisis point, and in order to survive, he must embrace a role he held in contempt his entire career. Ted is surrounded by a stellar group of characters who test their loyalties to both Ted and each other while they can’t help but mix their personal and professional lives. All of this is going on while we slowly unravel the events that years ago led Ted to leave behind everything and everyone he loved.”
Who’s in the cast?
Stephen Amell (Ted Black), Josh McDermitt (Stuart Lane), Lex Scott Davis (Erica Rollins), and Bryan Greenberg (Rick Dodsen) are confirmed to be straightening their ties for the Suits: LA spin-off series as the main cast. Troy Winbush (Kevin) and Alice Lee (Leah) are on board as recurring cast members.
Is anyone from the original show coming back?
At least one lawyer is on his way to LA. Deadline reports Harvey Specter heads back into the courtroom. Gabriel Macht, who was the super lawyer in the original show, returns for a three-episode arc. On November 20, Macht showed off Harvey’s embroidered shirt cuffs on Instagram Reels with the caption: “When an old friend is in need…it’s time to take care of things and make those very ‘things’ right.” The court room is the perfect place to embody friendship, right?
Where’s the trailer for Suits: LA?
While there’s not a full trailer just yet for Suits: LA, we do have a little teaser that pays tribute to the original series. “Greenback Boogie” by Ima Robot echos once again, this time throughout Los Angeles, as Ted gazes at the sunny skyline filled with palm trees and people who need lawyers. There’s even a hint as to how all the characters are connected— the glass on the wall reads “Rick Dodsen Entertainment.” Deadline confirmed Dodsen is an entertainment lawyer looking to level up his career against his rival Erica Rolins.
When does it premiere?
The lawyers are taking on Hollywood on February 23, 2025 at 9 p.m. on NBC. Maybe an old friend and star, Meghan Markle, can make a cameo to finally be able to say “Poppycock!”
