Meghan and Harry Reportedly Bought a European Vacation House

Harry and Meghan have put a lot of time and energy into putting down roots in the U.S. — naming her lifestyle brand after their new home, encouraging Americans to vote, building a group of friends that tabloids call the Montecito Mafia. But now, they seem to be looking across the Atlantic once again. According to the Daily Mail, the couple recently bought a home in Portugal.

Portugal does sound alarmingly close to England, where the couple of course lived until they left the royal family — and where they no longer have a home, after King Charles kicked them out of Frogmore Cottage. But it’s actually comfortable territory for these two — Harry’s cousin Princess Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, split their time between London and the CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club Resort, a luxury property development in Melides, about an hour south of Lisbon. (Brooksbank apparently also works for the CostaTerra.) Harry and Meghan seem to have stayed close with Eugenie and Jack amid all the family drama — the cousins were seen visiting the Montecito home in Meghan and Harry’s 2022 Netflix docuseries, and last September, Meghan and Harry reportedly stayed at Eugenie and Jack’s Portugal home for a three-night “romantic getaway” after attending the Invictus Games in Germany.

Apparently, they really enjoyed themselves, because Portugal will not be getting rid of them anytime soon. I can see the logic — Harry just learned to surf, and Meghan has got to get the ball rolling on her jam business. What could be better for them than a little seaside Under the Tuscan Sun–ing?
