This Is What Timothée Chalamet Looks Like Now

Continuing his streak of playing eccentric old souls with outsize mythologies — Willy Wonka, Bob DylanTimothée Chalamet has been snapped on set for Josh Safdie’s upcoming film Marty Supreme. Chalamet will play Marty Reisman, the table-tennis legend and hustler — though if you need to Google Reisman, Ping-Pong being a niche sport and all, you’ll find that he looks more like a traveling saxophone player who beds ladies with a tip of his fedora.

Kind of in that spirit, Chalamet is roaming around Sixth Avenue in a sweater-vest, short slicked-back hair, glasses, and what I can only describe as Schrödinger’s soul patch. (Is it there? Is it not? What does Kylie Jenner think?) His vibe is a little more inspiring trigonometry teacher than Lower East Side paddle maverick. But I guess I’m working with limited knowledge given that my impression of table tennis is defined by aging Chinese men with skinny legs, like my father, who obliterated his opponents in a 2006 Carnival Cruise tournament en route to Cozumel, Mexico, and certainly has no clue what a “Timothée Chalamet” is.

Very little is known about the movie other than the cast, which includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Odessa A’zion, and Tyler, the Creator in his feature-film debut. Perhaps Tyler could be the Patrick Zweig to Chalamet’s Art Donaldson?
