Robert Pattinson has done enough freaky little voices that some of us have forgotten how he talks when he’s off the clock. His fiancée, Suki Waterhouse, recently pranked him for Elle magazine segment by telling him over the phone that she’s been asked to host Love Is Blind. “That’s interesting … what an interesting turn of events,” he says politely. But when asked what he thought about becoming her co-host, he asks, “Darling, have you gone mad?” There are currently 139,000 likes on a tweet that muses, “starting to realize i have no idea what robert pattinson sounds like outside of a movie role cause why does he speak like peppa pig.”
His posh voice on the call is miles apart from what we’ve heard of his clone character(s) in the upcoming movie Mickey 17. (Pattinson told Empire that his voice for the Bong Joon-ho project is inspired by Ren and Stimpy’s titular chihuahua and Manx cat.) In February 2022, The Batman director Matt Reeves reflected to GQ, “Recently, Rob was telling me that he never plays a character with exactly his voice. The voice is one of his ways in.” Well, you can definitely hear the difference between how Pattinson grunted as Batman and how he screeched as the heron in The Boy and the Heron. If you need a refresher, listen to what his default setting sounds like below.
